Naked Planning - Estimation to Agile Estimation to No Estimation

Naked Planning is a project management methodology similar to Kanban that focuses on value rather than cost and emphasizes continuous delivery over iterative development. To agilists experienced in Scrum or XP, some of the ideas in Naked Planning seem heretical. However, the history of agile is one of challenging the status quo in estimation and planning. The Naked Planning approach satisfies the agile value of responding to change over following a plan by applying the lean principles of pull and flow. This provides a flexible framework to allow a quality team to rapidly produce quality software.

This presentation provides an introductory level tour of the following concepts:

• Agile estimation practices
• Cost-based planning vs. Value-based planning
• Lean concepts of pull and flow
• Naked Planning
